Viva Las Vegas!
2002 - Page 2
Saturday
Ughhh, we all feel horrid. Can you say hangover??? It is
hot as can be - like 112 at least. I tried to get in touch with
every one and I still wasn't getting my messages. I'd call people
and they'd say, "I just called you and left a message". We
yelled and yelled at the hotel manager and still no messages. So, we
wound up going to eat at The Venetian but didn't get there until over an
hour later because there was NO parking. We went to 3 different
hotels and no parking. We kept calling Cianna's cell phone and told
her we're trying to find a place to park - which we did find a spot at
Treasure Island so we walked to the Venetian from there.
We ate great food adn then decided to go to
Sephora because I think Stace wanted something there. I wound up
getting my favorite perfume (I ran out) -- L' eau d' Issey from
Issey Miyake. We walked back with a Krispy Kreme in hand! We
barely made it back alive in the heat and from being hung over so we all
decided to go back to the rooms and sleep until dinner.
I took a nap and got ready for our best
friends' wedding which took place at their new home in a very opulent area
in Vegas. I looked like a freak, all dressed in my club wear and
pink hair. It was a semi formal wedding and the guests number maybe
8, not including the cooks and wait staff. It was a beautiful
outdoor wedding right after sunset!! Our friends have a negative
edge (disappearing wedge) swimming pool and The Strip is reflected in
it. I didn't get to stay for dinner but I did get to eat hors d'oeuvres
which were awesome! Marc then sped me back out to the Luxor so I
could tend to my "guests", and sped back so he could toast his
best friend at dinner. Sorry I missed the rest of the wedding you
guys!
Saturday
Night: Pre-party at Luxor
FINALLY got in touch
with a few more people! Everyone came back over, including a few who
couldn't make it the night before. We raffled off 8 tee shirts and a "door prize"
(full size lavender bath gelee, lotion and salts with a large hemp
back scrubber). Stace (aka Ace) applied our false eyelashes again and
Cianna curled the ends of my hair after these pics were taken.

(and no those are not hair extensions, it';s a bad haircut)
Marlo was going to see Rick Springfield
EFX and wouldn't meet back up with until 10 PM at Ra. She had an
excellent time, as always with Mr. Springfield. LOL! She has seen
that man like 14 times, and he KNOWS who she is every time she goes.
Her daughter even got to sing on stage with him and play a little pretend
guitar!
Saturday Night -
Club Ra
We decided to go to Club
Ra like we were supposed to do the night before. The line was
HUGE. John got tired of waiting to he went and paid the bouncer off
and we all strode ahead of everyone like we were celebrities! Thank you
John! I owe you dinner!
Club Ra was
smoky and not what I expected. Rain was MUCH better. Marc had
to go help our friend unpack his furniture *he had moved there that
weekend) so I was on my own. Saturday night got fuzzy too, LOL!
But it was relatively mellow. We had our own little table and couch
area and just danced all night. Stace and Marlo had there share of
drinks! They didn't play the best music there either. Off and
on.

Sunday
I don't remember much of Sunday-day, anyone have a clue? I was
suffering from sleep deprivation and heat exhaustion by then. I know
we tried to get in touch with Marlo, Mark & Kirsten for breakfast but
their cell phone cut out while they were in the Stratosphere -- of all
places! It was once again very hot and icky. Someone fill me
on Sunday, I feel like it was surreal. Besides I am writing this
over two months later. (sorry guys!)
Sunday night, we rescued a
little white and orange kitten from this horrid old troll of a woman who didn't
even want him and left him out in the hot Vegas sun, to eat cockroaches
and scrounge for water. A friend had told us he had heard a kitten
howling all day before we had gotten there so of course we had to take him
back to California with us. We asked the neighbors if they had lost
a kitten and then we met the responsible troll. She didn't; want
him, so he officially became ours to find a home for.
We
came back to pick the kitten up the next day after checking out of our
hotel. Apparently the kitten had meowed all night so the friend
slept with his ear plugs in. Well, he never heard us knocking so we
had to leave or we'd be late for a business appointment in Los
Angeles. After the appointment, we drove all the way back to Vegas
and found out our friend had thought we had forgot about the kitten or
didn't want it (VERY unlike us) and proceeded to stick him in a box and
tie it to his motorcycle. He was on his way to the pound!
Well, he stopped for a light and looked back and the kitten had crawled
out of the box and was sitting on top of it! So our friend placed
him inside his motorcycle jacket -- mind you it was August in the
desert. By the time he stopped to check on the kitten (he couldn't
find the pound) the cat was panting and desperately needing water.
He stopped at a gas station and cooled the cat off by dousing it in
water. Thankfully, he turned back and raced home. We
called friend #2 (Mike Coleman, Big Eskimo) and told him we were on our way back to Vegas to pick up
the kitten (yes, we drove back to Vegas to pick up a stray). By the
time we got there, we jumped all over friend #1 (Zack Lance, Zax San) for being an idiot and
almost killing the kitten in route to the pound -- of all places! Well,
the kitten is now ours after extensive veterinary bills to save his
life. He was scarcely 2 1/2 lb when we found him and severely
malnourished. We are happy to say at the time of this writing he is 4 3/4
lb! He had an acute case of ear mites which caused a
massive infection and ruptured an ear drum. He is now recovering
from his 3rd surgery and we aren't out of the woods yet, so to
speak. He is fine for a few weeks after each procedure but then
starts going down hill. The vet said that if we wouldn't have taken
him in he would have died within a matter of weeks. We must clean
his ears out every morning and place eardrops in his ears twice a
day. (Please excuse the baseboards which are being replaced
after the faux paint is finished).
Everyone,
meet the love of my life, Chicken...
